Job description

Your Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to support children with life limiting conditions and their families? Rotary Flames House (RFH), on the campus of Alberta Children's Hospital, offers just that. RFH is the only free-standing pediatric hospice in Alberta and supports children, with progressive life-threatening illness from birth to 18 years of life, and their families by providing comprehensive palliative care. Pediatric palliative care is an active and total approach to care, embracing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual elements. Pediatric palliative care focuses on the enhancement of the quality of life for the child and support for the family. As a Registered Nurse, you will be an active member of the RFH and Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) team. Within the context of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct care to children and families. You will utilize your palliative care expertise to provide ongoing assessment, care, education, and coordination of services to these children and families. Your practice will envelop the principals of family centered care working within a team and independently. Within this role, you will demonstrate the following: Strong pediatric assessment and decision-making skills; excellence in interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills; ability to work with diverse populations; demonstrated initiative and adaptability; and a compassionate attitude that conveys respect and dignity of all persons.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
