Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) – Day Habilitation and IRAs

1. Qualifications

A. Minimum Masters' Degree in Education or Behavior Psychology or a related field

B. Work Experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities/OPWDD

C. Licensed Behavior Analyst, Board Certified Behavior Analyst

D. Knowledge of educational, behavioral procedures, principles and technology

E. Sensitivity to the needs of the program participants

F. Ability to flex work hours as needed to go to IRAs in late afternoons, evenings or weekends

Specific Responsibilities

A. Reviews pre-placement, psychological, educational, residential, social, and medical assessments and makes recommendations to the Admissions Team regarding the appropriateness of placement for meeting a consumer’s needs.

B. Ongoing review of Life Plans to ensure appropriateness of placement, goals and objectives, educational methods, and related services.

C. Reviews Plans to ensure compliance with existing regulations and agency philosophy.

D. Conducts reviews to ensure the program participants are served according to LP goals E. Participates in Human Rights Committee Meetings to present program participants behavioral

data, address and discuss the issues and to follow up on the recommendations made by the Committee.

E. Reviews incidents involving behavioral issues.

F. Observes staff interaction with program participants, provide feedback, collects data and ensure data is graphed.

G. Develops and trains staff in behavioral principles and ABA technology and individualized behavior programs.

H. Ensures proper oversight of behavior programs, and of training for staff and program participants.

I. Participates in updating Agency policies and procedures related to behavior programming/ABA

J. In conjunction with HR/Training and colleagues, creates and leads orientation and ongoing training for new employees with regards to behavioral principles

K. Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments for individuals in the programs (DH and IRAs) as needed.

L. Writes, trains, and implements behavior support plans as needed for individuals in the programs (DH and IRAs).

M. Collaborates with program staff on daily curriculum aligned with individual valued outcomes.

N. Mentors and supervises staff for certification as Registered Behavior Technician and/or BCBA.

O. Accompany individuals on psychiatry appointments as needed.

P. Visits residents at IRAs as needed to manage behavior challenges, implement behavior strategies, and trains staff on behavior plans.

Q. Participates in the screening/interview process for applicants, makes recommendations on hiring.

General Responsibilities

A. Follows all Hawthorne Foundation Inc. Policies and Procedures and Mission.

B. Participates in team meetings and on Agency Committees as needed.

C. Assumes additional responsibilities as necessary.

D. Directly responsible for program participants’ health, safety, and welfare.
