Job description

Haag, a Salas O'Brien company and a leader in forensic engineering and consulting since 1924, is seeking an experienced Forensic Electrical Engineer, ideally in the Houston, TX or Dallas Fort Worth, TX areas. Working remotely from your home office, you will investigate and evaluate the root cause and extent of failures and damage to electrical systems, components, and devices in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed P.E. in TX or eligible by reciprocity. Additional active licensures in surrounding states are highly desirable.
  • 5-10 years of experience designing or working with electrical systems in various settings.
  • At least 5 years of forensic engineering experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience conducting forensic investigations of electrical failures, fires, and explosions.
  • Expert witness experience including depositions and trial testimony.
  • Strong technical writing skills for authoring comprehensive forensic reports.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with computers, cameras, and industry-related software applications.
  • CFEI (NAFI), CFI, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • NCEES Record preferred for multi-state licensing.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.
  • Must be willing and able to work in confined spaces, roofs, and industrial settings.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required.
  • Master of Science or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering is highly desirable.

The total compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $225,000 per year. The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $170,000. The variable compensation range for this position is $0 to $55,000 per year but is not limited to that.
