What You'll Do
As a Business Process Analyst, you'll work across departments to uncover how work gets done today, identify opportunities for standardization and improvement, and translate business needs into actionable requirements for our Data & AI team.
In This Role, You Will:
  • Partner with stakeholders across Merchandising, Logistics, Retail Operations, Finance, Customer Experience, and other business functions to understand current workflows and challenges.
  • Lead interviews, workshops, and job-shadowing sessions to gather detailed process information and uncover operational insights.
  • Document and visualize business processes using tools such as process maps, swimlane diagrams, and SIPOC models.
  • Analyze existing workflows to identify inefficiencies, inconsistencies, duplication, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Challenge the status quo constructively, helping teams align around standardized, scalable business processes.
  • Transform business needs into clear, organized functional requirements that enable engineers, analysts, and data scientists to develop effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with Data & AI team members throughout project lifecycles to clarify requirements and validate outcomes.
  • Maintain a centralized library of process documentation and requirements to support ongoing business evolution.
  • Help prioritize process improvement and AI enablement opportunities based on business value and organizational readiness.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively with both business and technical audiences.

What Makes This Role Exciting
  • Work directly with leaders and teams across the organization.
  • Influence enterprise-wide process improvements.
  • Help shape Furniture Mart USA's AI and data-driven future.
  • Drive meaningful business impact without needing a technical development background.
  • Be part of a growing, innovative Data & AI team.
  • Gain exposure to cutting-edge business transformation initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Business Process Analysis, Requirements Gathering, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience documenting and mapping business processes using recognized methodologies such as BPMN, SIPOC, process flow diagrams, or swimlane diagrams.
  • Strong interviewing, facilitation, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to uncover detailed process information from subject matter experts and operational teams.
  • Confidence to respectfully challenge assumptions and help drive process standardization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data, analytics, AI, or machine learning initiatives through requirements gathering and business process analysis.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, Confluence, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Background in retail, distribution, manufacturing, furniture, or other operationally complex industries.
  • Understanding of foundational data concepts, including data quality, reporting, analytics, structured data, and unstructured data.
  • Experience working within cross-functional business and technology teams.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Loves understanding how organizations operate.
  • Asks thoughtful questions and digs beneath the surface.
  • Can turn ambiguity into clarity.
  • Builds trust quickly with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Balances diplomacy with healthy skepticism.
  • Enjoys solving problems through process improvement.
