Job Description

A senior data analyst is required to develop, design, construct, and maintain data structures, models and physical databases. The data analyst will collaborate across stakeholders (product managers, project managers, business analysts, and testers) to elicit and analyze requirements. The analyst will analyze, design, tune, maintain and test data and database solutions.

  • Meet with business stakeholders and other technical team members to gather and analyze application data requirements.
  • Design and build data solutions to satisfy application (business and technical) requirements.
  • Perform data analysis where requirements need to be derived from available documentation, user interviews, and file specifications/samples.
  • Perform data analysis activities (data profiling, creation of data dictionaries, data transformation rules, integration requirements)
  • Support and apply data standardization policies
  • Responsible for requirements gathering and BRD/SRD preparation.
  • Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Conducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data.
  • Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved.
  • Contributes to defining time tables and project plans.
  • Analyze and document upstream financial and risk measures
  • Validate new datasets for completeness and correctness
  • Coordinate acceptance testing and production roll-out
  • Provide custom datasets for analysis and ad hoc reporting
  • Participate in control reporting and data governance development
  • Help to enforce data integrity
  • Research and document data mapping from source to target systems
  • Assist with data modeling as necessary
  • Work closely with Project Management, Data Architects, Data Modelers, Data Team to design and implement the requirements for the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Work closely with business users to verify data requirements and access needs.
Qualifications

  • Must have at least 6-8 years of experience in data analysis. Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with Oracle, SQL Server Databases, and SQL
  • Minimum 5 years of experience gathering business requirements
  • Experience in both design and develop of enterprise level operational and data warehouse database systems
  • Experience in both design and develop of enterprise level operational and reporting systems and dashboards
  • Strong database design experience and experience with data modeling tools like Erwin etc.
  • Experience leading design sessions
  • Experience leading business requirements sessions
  • Mathematical background with knowledge of pricing, risk calculation, etc.
  • Solid experience with SQL, R programming experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be a self-starter that does not require direct supervision
  • Have a strong fundamental understanding of project management, specifically in the SDLC and Agile methodologies
  • Have expert level skills in Microsoft products that include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable them to:
  • Facilitate meetings with technical peers regarding the requirements definition
  • Communicate effectively with business, vendor, and project management staff
  • Participate in ongoing decisions regarding study design, data collection, data analysis, and methodology
