Position Description
Reporting to the Department Manager, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work including developing, scheduling, optimizing, analyzing, budgeting and closing of work orders.
Essential Functions:
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Manage the work order process to ensure a robust and thorough use of the system.
  • Track activities and communicate effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Optimize maintenance plans and schedules for predictive, preventive, routine, scheduled and emergency maintenance services to production, utility operations and infrastructure systems as necessary to provide for safe operations, regulatory compliance and equipment availability related to equipment and systems plant wide.
  • Coordinate work and work closely with planning and production on needed line downtime and prioritization of activities.
  • Collaborate with Parts Coordinators to develop, implement and optimize kitting process.
  • Ensure all equipment in the plant is in the CMMS with all necessary PMs in place.
  • Work closely with maintenance technicians to ensure work is completed on time and in full.
  • Improve current maintenance systems and monitor the processes.
  • Set up any new equipment PMs into the CMMS.
  • Track Maintenance KPIs and develop and execute improvement plans in support of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and best practice reapplication between areas.
  • Plan, schedule and track 3rd party vendors and ensure activities are accurately reflected in CMMS while adhering to the budget.
  • Fill in as a backup for the Parts Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor as necessary.
  • Train maintenance staff to effectively utilize the CMMS.
  • Manages resources effectively to meet both deadlines/promise dates as well as financial and production targets.
  • Assist in the monitoring of daily, weekly, yearly PM programs.

Required Skills
  • Experience in Food/ Beverage Manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP and Power Point.
  • Must have experience setting and maintaining a budget.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Technically strong understanding manufacturing and packaging equipment and processes as well as complex diagrams.
  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices.
  • Strong multi-tasking competency.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Comfortable working independently and showing initiative.

Competencies:
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, and tools.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Familiarity with preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to evaluate problems, identify potential solutions, and make decisions.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Ownership: is eager to take ownership of responsibilities; can and does think independently to excel in role; takes ownership of challenges
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Record Keeping: Proficiency in maintaining accurate maintenance logs and records.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in technical field preferred.
  • Three (3) years' experience in manufacturing, maintenance planning or inventory coordination.
  • Strong maintenance program experience preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evenings, overnight and holidays may be required.
  • Work Environment: Operating in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection and temperatures can get very hot and/or relatively cold. The environment is structured and supervised
