Known for its canals and Intracoastal waterfront, Fort Lauderdale, FL gives travelers an easy-going coastal base on the Atlantic. Diagnostic imaging, lab, and rehab assignments thread through a grid that runs from the beachfront inland, with clinics easy to reach off the through-roads. I-95 carries the north-south traffic while I-595 cuts west toward the Turnpike and the inland suburbs, and US-1 and A1A trace the coast. Hollywood lies just south and Pompano Beach to the north, both within a short commute. The airport sits close to the southern edge. Afternoon storms roll through most summer days, and hurricane season runs into the fall, so travelers watch the forecast and the drawbridges that open for boat traffic.
