The Impact You Will Have in This Role

As a  Software Engineer (Java & Business Systems), you will contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of mission-critical applications that support DTCC's core business functions.

Working closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Engineering teams, you will help translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while developing modern applications using Java, Angular, microservices, and cloud technologies. This role offers a unique blend of hands-on software development and business analysis, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy solving technical challenges while partnering with stakeholders to deliver business value.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and support high-quality software solutions using Java, Angular, Spring Boot, and related technologies. 
  • Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and business stakeholders to understand and refine business requirements. 
  • Translate functional requirements into scalable application designs and technical solutions. 
  • Develop and support REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise applications. 
  • Build responsive user interfaces using Angular, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. 
  • Create and optimize SQL and PL/SQL solutions supporting business processes and application performance. 
  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, solution design discussions, and Agile ceremonies. 
  • Analyze existing applications and workflows to identify enhancement and modernization opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure and DevOps teams to support application deployment and operational stability. 
  • Perform unit testing, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production support activities. 
  • Contribute to CI/CD processes and engineering best practices. 
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, user stories, and functional specifications as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 
  • 6+ years of experience developing enterprise Java-based applications. 
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

Talent Needed for Success

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and REST APIs. 
  • Experience developing web applications using Angular. 
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern UI frameworks. 
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL development skills (Oracle preferred). 
  • Experience with Hibernate, Spring, Microservices, and distributed systems. 
  • Experience with CI/CD tools including Git, Bitbucket, Maven, Jenkins, and Jira. 
  • Understanding of container technologies such as OpenShift, Docker, or Kubernetes. 
  • Experience working with messaging technologies such as Kafka, MQ, RabbitMQ, or Solace. 
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies. 
  • Experience with React, NodeJS, or NPM. 
  • Experience with testing tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, Cucumber, Jasmine, or Karma. 
  • Experience supporting application modernization or cloud transformation initiatives. 
  • Financial services or capital markets experience.
