Description
Job responsibilities include:
  • Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade analytical instruments at customer sites and other locations.
  • Train users in software applications and correct equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Provide phone support to customers and recommend action to be taken - order parts, service visit, etc.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by monitoring assigned support activities and maintaining an appropriate level of communication with supervisor and support coordinator.
  • Comply with safety standards, company policies, and business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate accounts of services performed and submit activity and expense reports using designated resources according to company and department policy and procedures.
  • Update scheduling application and keep supervisor informed of activities.
  • Keep abreast of product and policy information through frequent review of company intranet and website portal.
  • Attend service meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Must-Have Skills, Education, & Experience:
  • A four-year college or university degree in engineering
    discipline or chemistry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
  • Candidates with a two-year degree and major coursework in electronics or military training in a related field will be considered.
  • Minimum four years experience in field service or applications engineering in support of complex electro-mechanical equipment
    installed at customer locations is required.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a criminal, driving, and credit background check.
  • Background in meat processing industry preferred.
  • Experience working on X-ray machine, or automation controls, highly desirable.
  • Candidates must pass a very brief multiple-choice electronics test to be considered.

Nice-To-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:
  • Preferably has direct experience of working with company instruments
  • Has knowledge and experience of working in the Agricultural and Food markets
  • Gained real world experience working in a customer support organization

  • Problem solving - gather and analyze information necessary to identify and resolve technical problems in a timely manner. Comprehensive knowledge of general electronics theory and skills to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical components.
  • Interpersonal Skills - maintain company and customer confidentiality, exhibit sense of urgency and commitment to resolving customer issues. Provide solutions while maintaining a good working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Verbal communication - speak clearly and articulate information to multiple levels within the organization; demonstrate group presentation skills and ability to conduct meetings.
  • Written Communication - submit reports with proper spelling and grammar; ability to read and comprehend technical documentation and present numerical data effectively.
  • Planning/organizing - prioritize multiple duties, plan customer site visits and other work activities; use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
  • Quality - demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; review own work to ensure quality.
  • Adaptability - adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands and successfully deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Dependability - consistently completing work on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Safety and security - actively promote and personally comply with safety and security procedures; use equipment and materials properly.
  • Computer and networking skills - ability to add/remove programs, edit configuration files, and understanding of computer networks. Microsoft Office proficiency is also required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Saturday/Sunday work is a requirement of the role. Regular days off will be offered as Tue/Wed or Wed/Thu depending on department requirements.
  • Occasional work on days off as required.
  • Ability to take after-hours phone calls as needed
  • Work environment is within food processing facilities
  • Ability to travel long distances, (often 6+ hours) by ground and air to customer sites
  • Operation of test equipment and computer systems
  • Stamina to remain focused on tasks at hand until completed
  • Attention to detail despite interruptions
  • Strength to lift and transport analytical instrumentation weighing up to 70 pounds
  • Regularly requires work above chest level
