BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM TEACHER
Caterpillar Corner - Holt Location
Position: Before & After School / Wrap-Around Care Teacher
Location: Holt, Michigan
Schedule:
Morning: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM
Afternoon: 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Position Type: Part-Time
Caterpillar Corner is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and creative Before & After School Program Teacher to join our team! This position will work with our school-age children and provide a fun, safe, and engaging environment before and after their school day.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with school-age children and can create a program that is more than simply supervision. Our goal is to provide children with a structured afternoon filled with opportunities to learn, create, play, socialize, and relax after a busy school day.
Morning Program Responsibilities
The morning portion of the program will include:
  • Welcoming children as they arrive and helping them begin their day positively
  • Planning and leading age-appropriate morning activities
  • Providing opportunities for quiet activities, games, reading, and creative play
  • Maintaining a safe, welcoming, and organized environment
  • Supporting children as they prepare for their school day
  • Ensuring children are ready and transitioned appropriately for school transportation

After-School Program Responsibilities
The afternoon program teacher will be responsible for creating and following a daily after-school schedule that provides consistency and structure for the children.
Responsibilities include:
  • Greeting children as they arrive from school
  • Providing and supervising snack time
  • Establishing a designated homework/quiet work time
  • Planning creative activities such as:
    • Art projects
    • Science activities
    • Games and puzzles
    • Reading
    • STEM/building activities
    • Crafts
    • Dramatic play
    • Indoor and outdoor group activities
  • Providing opportunities for free choice and social interaction
  • Planning activities that are appropriate for different ages and developmental levels
  • Keeping children engaged rather than relying on screen time
  • Supporting positive behavior and helping children develop problem-solving and social skills
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting classroom/program space
  • Communicating appropriately with families regarding their child's day
  • Following all center policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures

Program Planning
The ideal candidate will be someone who is prepared and organized and understands the importance of having a plan for the children.
The teacher will be expected to maintain a weekly activity schedule that includes a variety of:
Activities should be engaging, age-appropriate, and flexible enough to meet the interests and needs of the children.

What We Are Looking For

Candidates must be willing to complete all required childcare training, background checks, and licensing requirements applicable to the position.
