Work Schedule: After-school hours (typically 2-3 days per week from Tuesday & Thursday from 3:45 pm-5:30 pm)
Employment Type: Part-Time

Pay Rate for Program:
Teacher:  $50 per hour

Paraprofessionals: $35 per hour


Qualifications:

Teachers MUST be certified and Highly qualified to apply.

Position Overview

The After-School Tutor provides academic support, skill development, and targeted intervention for high school students in core subject areas. The tutor will assist students with homework, reinforce classroom instruction, and help students build confidence and proficiency in key academic standards. This position plays an essential role in promoting academic growth and supporting students' progress toward graduation and college readiness.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group or one-on-one academic tutoring in designated subject areas (English I, English II, Algebra I, Geometry, Civics).
  • Support students with homework, assignments, projects, and test preparation.
  • Deliver targeted instruction based on student needs, classroom teacher recommendations, and school data.
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or improvements to the program coordinator.
  • Implement school-approved curricula, interventions, and instructional strategies.
  • Take attendance daily and ensure accurate record-keeping of student participation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and school staff to align tutoring support with classroom expectations.
  • Encourage student engagement, motivation, and academic confidence.
  • Uphold all school policies, procedures, and expectations for safety and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required (Teachers only)
  • Holds and Eligible for Licensure by the Louisiana Department of Education
  • Experience in the specified content area
  • Former teaching experience preferred
