The Opportunity:
We are looking for an after school instructor to teach coding and to lead instruction in design, manufacturing and operation of coding platforms incorporating science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). This also overlaps with computer science.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of up to 15 students during after-school programming.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging lessons and enrichment activities, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs and interests.
  • Establish learning objectives, monitor student progress, and support skill development through project-based activities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and character development.
  • Prepare classrooms and materials, maintain attendance records, and assist with daily program setup and cleanup.
  • Implement safety protocols, including emergency procedures and evacuation drills.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust activities to maximize student engagement and outcomes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the After-School Program Director.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications or credentials in coding is preferred.
  • Availability to work late afternoons and/or evenings (typically 4:00-6:00 p.m., with program hours between 3:00-6:30 p.m.).
  • Experience in coding and prior experience working with youth in a classroom, enrichment, or after-school setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and group facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners and follow program schedules.
  • Passion for coding and youth development; candidates qualified to lead instruction in multiple activities are preferred. Must successfully complete required background checks and clearances.
Salary:
  • $25 - $35 per hour
