AFC Manager

The Athletic and Fitness Center is looking for an individual with exceptional leadership qualities; must be highly organized, possess positive interpersonal skills and also have an interest in athletics events and operations. The ideal candidate must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently in a fast paces environment This position includes but is not limited to patrolling the building, creating staff schedule, managing student staff, working in collaboration with the graduate assistants, operating scoreboards, learning in-game record keeping, and assisting with various event operations. Dress code/uniform will be required for this position. CPR/AED and Lifeguard Certification must be valid and other duties as assigned by the supervisor for this position.

Responsibilities of the Position:

Attention to detail is imperative.

Supervising the AFC control desk attendants, lifeguards, etc.

Develop the semester hourly schedule for student employees.

Develop an ongoing customer service program.

Lead student employee and staff meetings.

Assist AFC professional staff with departmental programs.

Work the clock at sports such as soccer, volleyball and hockey

Willingness to learn and perform essential in-game skills such as the book in basketball

Ability to be trained in skilled positions such as line judge in volleyball and scoresheet in hockey

Adhere to the dress code

Assist the game supervisor in any other capacity

Completing other duties as assigned by the supervisor of this position.

Student staff must participate in online and in person training sessions provided by the Career Development Office. The position is in-person and hours vary weekly depending on availability in relation to business hours. Nights and weekends are required. You will be asked to meet in person at least once per semester. There is a dress code/uniform that will be required for this position.

All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year.

Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
