The main difference between an Aesthetic RN and a Medical Assistant lies in their credentials and scope of practice. Aesthetic RNs are registered nurses with specialized training in cosmetic procedures, while Medical Assistants typically have less formal education and focus on supporting physicians with basic clinical tasks. Both roles work in healthcare settings, but Aesthetic RNs are more involved in advanced aesthetic treatments, making them ideal for cosmetic clinics and med spas.
As an aesthetic RN, you may perform surgical and non-surgical duties related to medical aesthetic or elective procedures. Your responsibilities may include helping patients prepare for, undergo, and recover from cosmetic operations like facial reconstruction or non-surgical treatments such as BOTOX injections. If you work in a surgical setting, you assist in perioperative and postoperative settings. If you work in an outpatient facility, such as a dermatology office, you may provide patient consultations and perform procedures, such as laser treatments. Typically, as a nurse esthetician, you work in a relaxed setting, such as a medical spa or plastic surgeon’s office.

Do the work you love as an aesthetic injector at a growing VIO Med Spa in Modesto, and grow your hours as you grow your book. Start part-time with a strong hourly base and commission, and scale toward full-time as your patient base builds, inside a supportive, team-first practice.
What You Will Do
What We Need
Biostimulator and advanced-filler skill, laser or skin-treatment experience, an established patient following, and familiarity with Allergan, Galderma, and Revance product lines are all strong advantages.
Schedule + Compensation
$60–$65/hr commensurate with experience, plus a 5% commission on services. The schedule starts part-time and scales toward full-time as your patient base grows, so your hours expand with the book you build. Saturday flexibility is preferred for occasional events and pop-ups.
