Structural Engineer - Hull & Turret Systems
Sterling Heights, MI
$46.42-$51.42/Hour
Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute detailed hardware and welded assembly designs supporting Hull and Turret Structures
  • Create and mature design concepts using 3D CAD modeling tools
  • Ensure designs meet technical requirements, cost, and schedule objectives
  • Collaborate within cross-functional program teams to support system-level performance
  • Work with drafting to transition concepts into production-ready models and drawings
  • Oversee the release of hardware models and engineering prints
  • Support manufacturing during fabrication, integration, and vehicle installation (prototype and production)
  • Provide technical support for testing and verification activities
  • Lead or support Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations on structural hardware issues

Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience developing and releasing technical designs at the vehicle program level
  • Experience taking designs from concept through physical hardware integration
  • Structural hardware design, including welded assemblies (preferred)
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling
    • Experience with Siemens NX, VIS, and/or Creo (preferred)
    • Familiarity with Teamcenter (PLM) (preferred)
    • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Understanding of welding techniques and structural fabrication requirements
    • Experience with RCCA methodologies
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Work Requirements:
    • Ability to work full-time on-site
    • Ability to travel as required
    • Ability to support up to 10% overtime, as needed
