Summary of Position

Responsible for ensuring that quality department personnel and resources support the delivery of products and services that meet customer expectation and company standards. Will be responsible for maintaining and improving quality policies and documentation, oversees the work of the quality processes and personnel. Will develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with other company leadership and supervision team members.

Essential Job Requirements (MINIMUM):

Supervisory/Leadership:

·         Monitoring work progress to ensure that deadlines are met and that quality standards are upheld.

·         Responsible for mentoring and training new employees on company rules, policies and procedures, including safety requirements. As well as continued training, mentoring and development of personnel.

  • Possesses the skills and experience to develop and administer processes that ensure fulfilment of customer’s contract requirements (e.g. specifications, standards, regulatory, etc.).
  • Provide guidance in LEAN principles throughout the QA/QC processes as opportunities present themselves.
  • Provide guidance for prioritizing/managing inspection and processing queues.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership for direct report’s attendance, job performance and adherence to policies.
  • Provide effective and clear communication when corrective action is required to improve a direct report’s performance.
  • Managing projects involving a team of employees working on specific tasks towards common goals.
  • Providing guidance and support to employees in their work teams to ensure that they are performing their jobs effectively.
  • Evaluating potential hazards in the workplace and recommending solutions to unsafe conditions.
  • Monitoring and reporting on employee productivity to ensure that goals are being met.
  • Promote a policy of “What are the facts? What is the right thing to do?”

Quality:

·   Experienced and deep comprehension of aerospace standards and specifications (e.g. AS9100 QMS, AS9102 FAI, BAC, BDS, etc) as well as how to implement and maintain.

·    Knowledge of GD&T ANSI Y14.5

·    Leads the personnel and processes for inspection of rubber materials, parts or products for conformance to specifications.

·   Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings including mylars, specific to aerospace.

·    Understanding best practices and application of the various tools used to inspect/verify products to the referenced design data.  

·    Basic understanding of CMS (CMM or Laser Scanner) processes.

·   Thorough understanding of metrology and calibration processes.  

·    Up-to-date on current and best practices related of quality assurance and quality control. 

·    Actively participates in the development of QA/QC practices.

·   Responsible for adhering or recommending improvements to the company’s quality system procedures as documented in our QMS.   

·   Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required. Technical coursework related to blueprint reading, application of AS9100 in a manufacturing environment required.

EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of manufacturing quality assurance experience required, preferably in a build-to-print manufacturing environment. Experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to problems.

Proficient using PC and software applications.

Advanced mathematical skills.

Attention to detail.

Sense of Urgency.

Ability to work on numerous projects at once.

Strong interpersonal and personnel management skills.

Use of measuring equipment: calipers, micrometers, press, scales, compression gauge.
