This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Leads and directs a portion of the Supplier Quality organization, establishing strategies and processes to ensure suppliers meet quality, reliability, and compliance requirements in support of program and production objectives. Serves as a key interface between supply chain, engineering, and operations to drive continuous improvement across the supplier base.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality management strategies aligned with company goals and program requirements
  • Lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) responsible for supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring
  • Establish and maintain supplier qualification and approval processes, including first article inspections (FAI) and production part approval processes (PPAP)
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) processes for supplier-related nonconformances
  • Manage supplier scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve supplier quality performance
  • Partner with Procurement and Engineering to assess and mitigate supply chain risk
  • Support supplier development initiatives to build long-term supplier capability and capacity
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP)
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by qualifying suppliers for new materials, components, and processes
  • Represent Supplier Quality in design reviews, program reviews, and executive-level briefings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading supplier audits and qualification activities
  • Proficiency with quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, APQP, SPC, and MSA
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 or equivalent quality management system standards
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing industries
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE)
  • Experience supporting hardware development from design through production
  • Familiarity with government/FAR/DFARS procurement quality requirements
