Job Description

The Assembly Mechanic I independently assembles aerospace parts, subassemblies, and components in a manufacturing environment. This role installs and aligns parts according to blueprints and specifications, uses hand and power tools, verifies completed work with measuring equipment, and consistently meets established quality and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aerospace parts, subassemblies, and components independently according to manufacturing drawings and detailed work instructions.
• Install, fasten, align, trim, file, and fit parts and subassemblies using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to ensure correct assembly and proper alignment of components.
• Use measuring instruments, jigs, fixtures, presses, and other specialized equipment to verify dimensions, fit, and functionality.
• Inspect completed work for proper fit, tolerance, performance, and compliance with specifications and aerospace quality standards.
• Follow established production processes and consistently meet quality, safety, and productivity targets.
• Recognize production or assembly problems, identify potential causes, and communicate recommended solutions to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area by following 5S procedures and adhering to all safety guidelines.
• Document work as required and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support smooth workflow.
• Operate within minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of workmanship and reliability.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of one year of previous assembly experience in the aerospace industry.
• Proven ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints, and detailed work instructions.
• Mechanical assembly experience, including installing, fastening, aligning, trimming, filing, and fitting aerospace parts and subassemblies.
• Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, jigs, fixtures, presses, and related shop equipment.
• Ability to inspect completed work for fit, tolerance, performance, and compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• GED or higher level of education.
• Basic shop math skills to support accurate measurements and calculations.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong manual dexterity for precise, hands-on assembly work.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality, accurate assemblies.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to interpret instructions and share information clearly.
• Ability to recognize production problems and communicate recommended solutions promptly.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and maintain an organized work area through 5S procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with aerospace assemblies or other precision mechanical products.
• Familiarity with schematics and assembling from detailed technical documentation.
• Comfort using specialized assembly equipment and precision measuring tools.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and address issues quickly.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to established aerospace quality standards.

Work Environment

Work takes place primarily in a manufacturing assembly environment, with occasional time in an office setting. You may be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, odors, coolant vapors, heat, and cold during normal operations. The role involves working around sealants, paints, adhesives, acetone, liquid nitrogen, and other chemicals used in assembly and cleaning processes. Safety glasses, hearing protection, and other required personal protective equipment are provided to support a safe and compliant workplace. The environment emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to 5S and safety procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Everett, WA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
