Job description

Segers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is hiring a Calibration Tech to join our team. We offer a competitive benefits package and a 9/80 work schedule that includes every other Friday off. Apply today!

Purpose of position: To maintain the calibration lab, instruments, tooling, and equipment.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation.


  • Maintain, test, and repair a variety of instrumentation and equipment (i.e. torque wrenches, gages).
  • Ensure that instruments, gages, and testing devices are calibrated correctly and give accurate readings.
  • Ensure that instruments, gages, and testing devices are calibrated within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Issue Purchase Orders (POs) for instruments requiring vendor calibration.
  • Maintain/source relationships with new and existing vendors that provide calibration services.
  • Completes calibration and administrative inspection records required for the quality system.
  • Initiates requisitions for quality control equipment and purchases materials as necessary.
  • Completes calibration inspections in accordance with approved technical data.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, maintenance manuals, bulletins, and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Maintains diligent use of company computer programs.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and personnel policies and ensures same of personnel.
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner.
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy.
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).


  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, hard gages, dial bores gages, height gages, and other surface plate equipment.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiative.
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
  • Must be able to apply common sense.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel) and have the ability to learn and become proficient in specific company software.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs.
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally.
  • Must be able to see with or without corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to hear with or without aids.
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • At least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One-year prior related experience is preferred
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) is preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, aviation and/or MRO environment is a plus.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.


Work Conditions: Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
