Job Summary

The Make Ready Engineer Designer will work on electric and communications utility distribution projects and be responsible for make ready design, pole loading analysis, permitting, and construction units. Project types will include design of aerial and underground electric and communication network distribution lines. Will work under the supervision of a senior designer and/or engineer. 

*** Remote work a possibility depending on work experience however will need to be local to the area.


Responsibilities
  • Make ready design.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters to deliver the most cost effective and highest quality infrastructure solution.
  • Review, interpret, modify, and create utility plans/packages using AutoCAD, GIS software, and Excel ability to perform pole loading analysis.
  • Produce detailed design documentation including utility system design, line layout/routing, overhead and underground distribution, and identification of conflicting utilities.
  • Be familiar with NESC electrical clearance requirements.
  • Ability to work in client systems.
  • Contributes to and implements design modifications to improve quality of projects and process improvements.
  • Apply design standards to underground and aerial pole line cable plant, including: Joint Use Design, Pole Replacement, Primary Service, and Reliability/Maintenance Design.
  • Experience utilizing OCalc software for pole loading analysis.
  • Interface with Vendor to resolve and respond to any inquiries.

Qualifications
  • Associates degree, or equivalent related experience with Make Ready Design.
  • 2+ years experience in the design of electric utility network distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook required.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for up to the past 5 years.

Preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years Autocad experience, a plus.
  • Katatpult platform experience a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D or 3D is a plus.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
