What does a typical workday look like for someone in aerial construction?

A typical day in Aerial Construction involves working outdoors, often on telecommunications towers, utility poles, or other elevated structures to install, maintain, or repair lines and equipment. Teams usually start with safety briefings and equipment checks before heading to job sites where they may climb structures, handle heavy tools, and work alongside ground crews to coordinate tasks. The role requires a mix of physical activity, technical knowledge, and attention to safety standards throughout the day. Collaboration with other technicians, supervisors, and sometimes customers is common, making communication and teamwork essential for a productive and secure work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in aerial construction, and why are they important?

Aerial Construction professionals need expertise in working at heights, knowledge of safety protocols, and strong physical endurance, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Certification in tower climbing, rigging, and OSHA safety standards, as well as proficiency with hand and power tools, are critical in this field. Attention to detail, teamwork, and clear communication are valuable soft skills that help manage complex installations and ensure safety.
