Job Title: Manufacturing Technician C

Job Code: 33936

Job Location: Redmond, WA

Job Schedule: 2nd Shift 4/10: Employees work 10 hours per day, 4 days a week (Mon - Thu 3:30pm - 2am)

Training will start on day shift prior to being assigned to second shift for approximately 2-3 months. 

This position includes 10% shift differential pay.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced, precision mechanical Manufacturing Technician C to perform a variety of assembly duties including mechanical rocket engine assembly and test. Assembly will be on piece parts into completed sub-assembly using typical assembly tools, but could also include final assemblies, quality testing, re-work, etc.

In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems.  Our products enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires.

Essential Functions:

  • Mechanical assembly and test of engines or other components/products as assigned. Small mechanical precision assembly. 
  • Handle precision clean parts within a laminar flow environment. 
  • Perform diversified, but semi-repetitive operations following standardized methods and procedures under changing conditions. 
  • Coordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or engineers in the set-up and calibration of equipment. 
  • Perform troubleshooting of mechanical assemblies, company manufactured tooling and pressure testing. 
  • Use and operate various computer systems and applicable software (such as retrieving work instructions or manufacturing module in ERP system). 
  • Read and interpret product drawings, process specifications, and department procedures.
  • Provide assistance in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process, collect data, or assist in research work. 
  • Repair or make recommendations to solve equipment issues. 
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to come up with logical answers. 
  • Perform mathematical calculations accurately and quickly. 
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the work team and those contacted in the course of work
  • Effectively communicate to supervision/lead person, maintenance, engineering or other employees of the organization. 
  • Work with management, supervision or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines. 
  • Provide rapid support while following proper housekeeping and safety procedures. 
  • Other duties as assigned; additional duties could include production of parts, metal fabrication, etc. 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of electrical test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, etc.).
  • Knowledge of strippers, crimpers and installing solder splices.
  • Certification to IPC 620 preferred.
  • Familiarity with 5S and lean procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to work other shifts and overtime as necessary.
  • Oracle and Delmia experience.
  • Knowledge of Laminar Flow environments and FOE/FOD controls a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly and test of electromechanical components.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $27.40/hr - $49.04/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.

L3Harris announced on January 5th, that AE Industrial Partners ("AE Industrial") has agreed to acquire a controlling interest in L3Harris' Space Propulsion and Power Systems business. This position has been identified as one that will transition to the new standalone company upon closing of the transaction. Until that time, L3Harris will continue its hiring activity within this business.
