Job description

WHO WE ARE

Elliott Davis pairs forward-thinking tax, assurance and consulting services with industry-leading workplace culture. Our nine offices - located in the fastest growing cities in the US - are built on a foundation of inclusivity, collaboration, and collective growth. We work daily to provide exceptional service to our people, customers, and our communities. Audit and assurance services are provided by Elliott Davis, LLC(doing business in NC and D.C. as Elliott Davis, PLLC), a licensed CPA firm.

The CAAS Projects Advisory Associate helps customers solve accounting and finance challenges through hands-on, project-based advisory work. Working alongside experienced Seniors, Managers, and Directors, the Associate supports key workstreams, interacts with customer teams, and helps deliver practical solutions that strengthen accounting operations and support business needs.

Engagements may include cash-to-accrual conversions, accounting cleanup and remediation, interim accounting support, month-end close optimization, accounting process improvement, and ERP or accounting system transitions. No two engagements are exactly alike, providing broad exposure to industries, accounting environments, and business challenges.

This role is ideal for an experienced audit associate or accounting professional who is naturally curious, takes ownership, enjoys problem solving, and wants to move beyond testing or maintaining established processes into execution. The Associate will build operational accounting and advisory skills, take increasing ownership of assigned work, interact directly with customers, and develop toward a future CAAS Projects Advisory Senior role.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

This role offers the opportunity to apply your accounting foundation to real customer challenges. You will work across a variety of projects, learn how accounting functions operate, and help create practical solutions that fit each organization's needs. The work combines hands-on execution, meaningful customer interaction, coaching from experienced professionals, and a clear path to grow within CAAS Projects Advisory.

Responsibilities
  • Support project-based accounting and finance engagements, including cash-to-accrual conversions, accounting cleanup and remediation, month-end close support, process improvement, and ERP or accounting system transitions.
  • Assist with interim accounting engagements by supporting close, reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and day-to-day accounting priorities.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting schedules, process documentation, and other engagement deliverables.
  • Gather and analyze customer information, investigate variances and accounting issues, and help develop practical solutions.
  • Complete assigned work accurately and on time while proactively communicating questions, progress, risks, and barriers.
  • Participate in customer meetings, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate directly with Controllers, accounting teams, and other customer stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned tasks and deadlines across multiple engagements while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Apply audit, financial reporting, internal control, and accounting-process knowledge to customer situations.
  • Use technology, data, and process-improvement tools to support efficient engagement delivery.
  • Collaborate with Seniors, Managers, Directors, and professionals across Elliott Davis to deliver high-quality customer solutions.
  • Actively seek feedback and development opportunities while building the skills needed to take ownership of larger workstreams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Typically 2 to 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting audit experience or comparable experience providing a strong foundation in financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls.
  • Experience preparing or auditing account reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, or related accounting schedules.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Naturally curious, accountable, coachable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in changing environments.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate directly with customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA license or progress toward CPA licensure.
  • Experience in CAAS/CAS, outsourced accounting, accounting advisory, or operational accounting.
  • Experience with accounting cleanup, cash-to-accrual conversions, month-end close, process improvement, or ERP systems.
  • Experience with private equity-backed, healthcare, biotech, life sciences, distribution, manufacturing, or growth-oriented organizations.
