Job Req ID: 29809
About Supermicro:
Supermicro® is a Top Tier provider of advanced server, storage, and networking solutions for Data Center, Cloud Computing, Enterprise IT, Hadoop/ Big Data, Hyperscale, HPC and IoT/Embedded customers worldwide. We are the #5 fastest growing company among the Silicon Valley Top 50 technology firms. Our unprecedented global expansion has provided us with the opportunity to offer a large number of new positions to the technology community. We seek talented, passionate, and committed engineers, technologists, and business leaders to join us.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a commercially driven Director of Product Management to accelerate the market growth of Supermicro's data center power infrastructure portfolio within our Datacenter Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) framework. This is fundamentally a business development leadership role with product P&L responsibility. Your primary mission is to secure major design wins, close large-scale strategic deals, and drive commercial adoption of power infrastructure (generators, switchgear, UPS, BESS, PDUs, and rack-level power) integrated with Supermicro's AI-optimized compute, cooling, and networking. You will personally lead high-value pursuits alongside our senior product and sales leadership, own a defined power sub-portfolio P&L, and build a high performing team of product managers and business development professionals. You will combine deep power infrastructure expertise with sharp commercial acumen to architect winning customer solutions and translate them into measurable revenue growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development & Customer Acquisition:
• Develop and execute a business development strategy focused on acquiring net-new enterprise and hyperscale logos for the power infrastructure portfolio, penetrating the AI data center market.
• Personally lead and participate in strategic sales pursuits, leveraging deep power infrastructure expertise to build credibility with C-level executives and technical decision-makers at hyperscale and enterprise accounts.
• Identify, qualify, and develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, translating market intelligence into actionable capture plans.
• Orchestrate complex sales cycles in collaboration with the sales team, providing the technical and strategic guidance needed to close high-value, multi-year deals.
End-to-End Solution Development:
• Translate customer business needs and technical workload requirements (enterprise virtualization, utility feed, backup generation, energy storage, distribution, and rack-level power for high density AI/ HPC workloads) into compelling, customized proposals.
• Architect total power solutions spanning medium-voltage transformers, switchgear, UPS, BESS, microgrid controls, PDUs, and rack power shelves, integrated with GPU platforms, liquid cooling, and cluster networking to win strategic bids and secure long-term design wins.
• Guide the integration of power components into cohesive, factory-tested DCBBS solutions that deliver speed-to-power and single-vendor accountability.
Strategic Account Growth & Executive Relationships:
• Forge multi-threaded C-level relationships within newly acquired and existing strategic accounts to drive satisfaction and identify expansion opportunities.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for key accounts, ensuring superior customer experience and strengthening long-term trust.
• Represent Supermicro's power vision with Fortune 500 and Global 2000 customers, supporting landmark deals in partnership with senior leadership.
Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management:
• Own the product P&L and define a winning roadmap by synthesizing inputs from market analysis, competitive intelligence, and direct customer feedback.
• Evaluate new market adjacencies (grid-interactive UPS, BESS, microgrids, renewables, and modular power) and build business cases to secure investment.
• Champion the customer voice within the organization, ensuring product requirements and differentiators are explicitly tied to solving enterprise pain points and generating revenue.
• Conduct competitive analysis across the power chain, anticipating shifts such as higher-voltage distribution, 800V DC architectures, liquid-cooling-driven density, and AI-driven power demands.
Leadership & Cross-Functional GTM:
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of product managers and business development professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and customer-centricity.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to resolve critical customer issues and align engineering, marketing, and sales efforts to meet aggressive strategic targets.
• Track KPIs including new logo revenue, design wins, customer acquisition, market share, and total-cost-of-ownership improvements.
Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; Master's degree or MBA a strong plus.
    • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the data center power infrastructure, industrial equipment, or enterprise hardware solutions space with a significant portion focused on power infrastructure, servers, networking, and/or storage.
    • Proven track record of at least 5-7 years in a business development or strategic sales role, with demonstrable success in acquiring net-new enterprise accounts and exceeding revenue targets.
    • Strong working knowledge of data center power infrastructure (generators, switchgear, UPS, BESS, PDUs, microgrids, and monitoring systems) and trends in high-density AI compute, liquid cooling, and sustainability. Familiarity with GPU platforms, rack integration, and cluster networking (InfiniBand, high-speed Ethernet) is a plus.
    • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external C-suite audiences.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, managing multiple complex projects and sales pursuits simultaneously.
    • A hands-on leader who operates effectively in ambiguous environments, takes initiative, and possesses a keen attention to detail without losing sight of the strategic big picture.
