Job Title: Quality Engineer IIDepartment: QualityReports To: Quality ManagerClassification: Full-Time, ExemptLocation: On-SiteJOB OVERVIEW:The Quality Engineer works with Operations and Engineering to establish processes, documentation and training to prevent defects and meet customer requirements for automotive customers. The QE will also be responsible for managing assigned customers and suppliers. This will be accomplished through strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with a team while complying with IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards. The Quality Engineer contributes to the HGC company mission by building positive relationships with coworkers, customers, and suppliers. Success for a quality engineer will result in trusting relationships, improved processes, and improved quality systems.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Works with Engineering and Operations to develop processes and documentation supporting our quality management system. Including:APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning)DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis)PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis)Design/Process ReviewsConduct product and process audits and inspections8D problem-solving and root-cause analysisContinuous improvement teamsLeads completion of assigned external and internal corrective actionsRead blueprints and identify non-conforming productPerforms customer/supplier audits, layered audits, and internal quality and environmental system audits (IATF 16949 and ISO14000)Supports Operations, Receiving, Materials, and Quality with nonconforming product dispositionSPC implementation and managementManages assigned customers/suppliers to address quality-related activities and lead improvement teamsFollows and reviews active projects by maintaining project activity trackers, attending project review meetings, and signing off on project phase completions.Provides quality support as necessary to customers during all phases of product developmentPerform other duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Proficient math skills, including statistical analysisRoot cause analysis and formal problem-solving abilityAbility to effectively manage both emotional and social intelligenceAbility to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent time management skills and ability to efficiently manage priorities and tasks based on importanceExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAdaptability skills to effectively manage demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected eventsAbility to work self-sufficiently to ensure accuracy and quality of tasksAbility to navigate and resolve internal or external situations effectively and resourcefullyAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentAbility to effectively manage both emotional and social intelligenceAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, co-workers, and HGC Industries stakeholdersQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a technical field or a minimum of 10 years of equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degreeA minimum of 5 years in Quality EngineeringCertified Quality Engineer(CQE) a plusAITF 16949 or ISO14000 auditor certification a plusProficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPointExperience with IATF16949 and ISO14001 certifications required3+ years in automotive is preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Sitting for long periods- 5-10 hours a dayStanding for long periods- 5-10 hours a dayWalking for long periods- 1-5 hours a dayStoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl- occasionallyPush, pull, twist, reach, & engage in rapid reflex movements- OccasionallyClimbing on ladders, scaffolding, and/or stairs- If neededENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Manufacturing plant and office employees can/will be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Occasional (less than 5%) travel to local customers and suppliersHGC Industries provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified employees and applicants.
