Loadstar, the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report's 2026 Company of the Year, is creating a new Marketing and Communications Specialist position to help tell Loadstar's story to our employees, customers, and industry. This will be a dynamic and challenging role in one of Louisiana's most promising new companies. It offers significant responsibility, influence, and visibility both internal and external.

Loadstar services the refining, chemical, and marine transportation industries. As Louisiana's first Certified Evergreen® company, we are committed to private ownership and long-term growth. The company has twice been recognized as a Best Place to Work, and received multiple awards for safety, performance, and customer service.

He or she will need to work both independently and collaboratively to get things done. High emotional intelligence, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal skills, a refreshing sense of humor, and a bright, positive outlook are essential.

We want someone who shares our values including hard work, family, and fun. Experience is a plus, but we are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds.

JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communications Specialist owns Loadstar's day-to-day marketing and communications execution — from the company's internal employee engagement calendar and events to external brand, content, and digital presence. This role blends creative production with project management: designing materials that keep Loadstar's brand consistent, planning and executing company events, and maintaining the channels — website, social media, and print — where Loadstar tells its story to employees, customers, and the industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Employee Engagement & Company Events
  • Own and maintain Loadstar's annual employee engagement calendar, including recognition programs, milestone celebrations, and employee appreciation events.
  • Plan and execute company events — leadership meetings, milestone/anniversary celebrations, holiday events, and site-level gatherings — managing logistics, vendors, and budgets.
  • Coordinate sponsorships, industry events, and customer-facing hospitality.
  • Capture and organize photo and video content from events for use across internal and external channels.
Marketing & Communications Strategy
  • Develop and execute Loadstar's overall marketing and communications strategy in partnership with executive leadership.
  • Maintain and update the company website and content management systems, keeping content accurate and on-brand.
  • Manage Loadstar's social media presence and other digital channels.
  • Write and design internal communications (newsletters, safety and operational announcements) and external communications (customer updates, industry publications).
  • Ensure all materials — internal and external — comply with the Loadstar Brand Book (logo usage, color palette, and typography).
  • Design marketing collateral, presentations, and print materials using Adobe InDesign.
  • Support business development with polished customer-facing presentations and proposal materials.
  • Use the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, and similar tools to produce graphics, signage, and social content.
  • Manage relationships with outside creative, design, and print vendors and agencies, ensuring on-time, on-brand delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in a marketing, communications, or graphic design role.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Adobe InDesign required.
  • Experience with the broader Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, WordPress, and content management systems strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple events and deadlines at once.
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and with outside vendors and agencies.
  • Some travel required for company and industry events.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Creativity & Brand Judgment: Produces polished, on-brand work with minimal direction.
  • Project Management: Keeps multiple events and campaigns on schedule and on budget.
  • Communication: Writes and presents clearly for both internal and external audiences.
  • Initiative: Anticipates needs for upcoming events and campaigns rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Collaboration: Works well with leadership, field teams, and outside vendors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Office setting; the noise level in the work environment is relatively quiet.
  • Periodic travel to company events and sites; some evening or weekend work required around event schedules.
COGNITIVE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Daily/majority of the day: sitting, computer work, screen time, keyboarding, typing, and other repetitive movements.
  • Daily/consistent: use of professional judgment in alignment with company values and policies; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to translate high-level instructions into an executable process; ability to complete medium to large projects with minimal supervision.
  • Frequently: learning new software applications and recalling important processes.
  • Occasionally: kneeling, standing, reaching, twisting, grasping, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with a company match
  • Company-paid life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance
  • Sick pay
  • Paid vacation and paid holidays
  • Training and development programs
