  • Active Directory: Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, including user and group management, Group Policy, and ensuring secure access to resources.
  • Virtualization: Manage virtualized server environments using technologies like VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Automation: Create and deploy scripts, primarily using PowerShell, to automate routine administrative tasks, increase efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Cloud integration: Assist with migrating on-premise infrastructure to cloud services, and manage resources within cloud ecosystems like Azure.
  • Security and compliance: Implement and enforce security protocols, apply system patches and updates, and monitor for vulnerabilities.
  • Backup and disaster recovery: Design, implement, and maintain backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, review event logs, and analyze and resolve complex server and application issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, such as network engineers, developers, and help desk staff, to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications and skills

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is often required.
  • Experience: Several years of hands-on experience with Windows Server administration in an enterprise environment.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or VMware Certified Professional are highly valued.
  • Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of core Microsoft services (Active Directory, IIS, DNS, DHCP), virtualization platforms, and scripting languages.
  • Soft skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and troubleshooting.

Typical Day
