Job description

Mechanical Engineer

Are you looking to make an impact on the future of DoD technology? Do you have experience in mechanical design? Do you like the idea of supporting engineering designs from testing through fielding? Come join the team at IS4S Orlando and help us create munition systems that will aid the warfighter in getting their job done.

Job Description:

IS4S is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who is not only experienced in designing components and systems in CAD, but who also enjoys taking a hands-on approach to building, troubleshooting, testing, and improving real hardware. The ideal candidate is motivated, focused, confident, and ready to tackle challenging technical problems in a fast-paced engineering and production environment. This position requires someone who is proactive, adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

IS4S works closely with Air Force, Army, and Navy engineers and scientists to develop advanced military systems and rapid-turn hardware solutions. The Mechanical Engineer will work alongside engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and program managers to support the full development lifecycle—from initial concepts and prototype builds through testing and production. Duties include developing mechanical designs and assemblies in SolidWorks, creating technical drawings and manufacturing documentation, supporting prototype fabrication and integration activities, and working directly with machinists, manufacturing engineers, and test personnel to solve complex mechanical and system-level issues. Candidates should be self-starters who are teachable, eager to learn new technologies and processes, and comfortable stepping beyond traditional desk-based engineering to support hands-on problem solving, integration, and field testing activities as required.

Required Experience:

· Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

· 7+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical design, prototype development, hardware integration, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced engineering environment.

· Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assembly design, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

· Ability to work closely with a small, agile development team

· Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance

Desired Experience:

· Experience designing for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), and rapid prototyping processes including additive manufacturing.

· Experience designing and developing mechanical systems for aerospace, defense, robotics, UAS, or other high-reliability applications.

· Experience in DoD weapons development or integration

· Ability to rapidly troubleshoot and solve mechanical integration or fitment issues with minimal oversight.
