General Job Description:

Reporting to the TPS Supervisor, the TPS Engineer – Fixture Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of assembly fixtures, jigs, and workstation solutions to support production and new model launches. This role leverages SolidWorks and additive manufacturing to rapidly prototype, test, and deploy practical, cost-effective solutions that improve safety, quality, and productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop assembly fixtures, jigs, and tooling using SolidWorks
  • Create detailed CAD models and drawings for production-ready solutions
  • Utilize 3D printing for rapid prototyping and iterative design improvements
  • Lead fixture development from concept through validation and implementation
  • Support new model launches through assembly cell design and layout
  • Apply ergonomic principles to optimize workstation design
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and suppliers
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using TPS / Kaizen principles
  • Maintain 5S standards within work areas

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
    • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software)
    • Experience in fixture/jig/tooling design (preferred)
    • Experience with 3D printing and additive manufacturing (preferred)
    • Understanding of manufacturing/assembly processes
    • Knowledge of GD&T and basic engineering principles is an asset
    • Strong problem-solving and hands-on mechanical aptitude
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • A willingness to innovate, create & experiment
