Manufacturing Process Developer - Additive Manufacturing Technologies


Kitchener, ON, Canada - Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

The Manufacturing Process Developer - Additive Manufacturing Technologies is responsible for developing, validating, implementing, and optimizing advanced manufacturing technologies and processes that support Sonova's custom hearing solutions. This role leads additive manufacturing process development, laser engraving and laser cutting technologies, and serves as the global process owner for key production equipment while driving innovation, scalability, and operational excellence across global manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, qualification, and deployment of additive manufacturing processes from concept through production

  • Develop and optimize laser engraving and laser cutting processes, including validation plans and process controls

  • Serve as the global process owner for designated additive manufacturing and laser-based production equipment

  • Support equipment lifecycle management, maintenance planning, supplier engagement, upgrades, and capital planning

  • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams to support technology transfer and manufacturing scale-up

  • Standardize manufacturing processes across global sites to improve reliability and efficiency

  • Support post-launch engineering, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Quality (DfQ) principles throughout product development

  • Ensure process validation, quality control, safety, and regulatory compliance for manufacturing processes

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, specifications, validation reports, work instructions, and change controls

  • Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to production teams

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process capability

  • Build partnerships with suppliers, research organizations, and industry experts to drive innovation and best practices

More about you:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering required, preferably in Materials Science, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Microtechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Additive Manufacturing

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in additive manufacturing, process development, technology development, or project management

  • Experience with additive manufacturing processes and process validation

  • Familiarity with laser engraving and laser cutting technologies preferred

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, or similar process control methodologies is an asset

  • Strong analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills

  • Experience leading technical projects and cross-functional initiatives

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; experience with Magics or similar STL file handling software preferred

  • SAP, Minitab, Comsol, or similar engineering software experience is an asset

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova.

This role's pay range is between $73,600/yr - $92,000/yr. This role is also bonus eligible.
