West Virginia University School of Medicine and theDepartment of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry seek anAddiction Psychiatrist at Healthy Minds ChestnutRidge in Morgantown, WV.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreingequivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure. Candidatesmust have completed psychiatry residency and addiction psychiatryfellowship and be board certified/eligible in addiction psychiatry.All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Duties:

The successful candidate will practice in the area ofaddiction psychiatry. In addition to providing excellent patientcare, the successful candidate will also be actively involved inteaching medical students and residents, and fellows in ouraddiction medicine and addiction psychiatry fellowships.

The WVU Medicine Center for Hope and Healing supports adultsstruggling with substance use disorders through medically managedwithdrawal stabilization and residential treatment. The Center forHope and Healing’s facilities provide patient-centered care thatinvolves individual and group therapy as well as medicationassisted treatment. These services are provided in a serene settingby a team committed to providing state-of-the-art treatment, whilea caring and supportive environment is maintained .

The Comprehensive Opioid Addiction Treatment (COAT) programis a nationally recognized, longitudinal group-based modelutilizing medications for opioid use disorder via specialized teamsto incorporate biological, psychological and peer-based care.Opioid use disorder treatment access is expanded throughout thestate of West Virginia through a Hub and Spoke implementation ofCOAT with providers in the Department of Behavioral Medicine andPsychiatry serving as mentors.

The Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute’s Behavioral Medicineand Psychiatry Addiction team offers the full range of servicesfrom inpatient and intensive outpatient programs, residentialtreatment, satellite clinics, and telemedicine to patients acrossthe region. In addition to direct patient care, it extends thereach of quality behavioral health treatment into rural communitiesusing remote video-based consultation and mentorship to localproviders. Groundbreaking research conducted by the team includesharnessing the power of emerging technology to combat devastatingbrain disorders. Such research includes focused ultrasound, deepbrain stimulation, and transcranial magnetic stimulation forsubstance use disorders. The team has been on the front line ofAmerica’s addiction epidemic in Appalachia for the past twodecades. We are looking for compassionate providers to join us aswe seek to ease the suffering of those affected by addiction. Thisposition provides a unique opportunity to make a significantdifference in the survival and health quality of an entire statewith a highly collaborative team.

Within the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, thereis a strong focus on clinical service, teaching, and scholarshipamong psychologists, physicians, and social workers.
