Scope of the Role:

  • This is a junior-level position focused on operational and execution-oriented tasks (The role does not include system architecture ownership, deep root-cause analysis or people management responsibilities)
  • Work is performed under guidance of senior engineers and technical leads.


Bertrandt is seeking a Junior Software ADAS Engineer to support the deployment, maintenance, and bring-up of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on prototype and test vehicles. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, with primary responsibilities around software updates, ECU flashing, and vehicle system commissioning. The position requires local work as well as travel to ADAS hubs and test locations across the United States.



Key Responsibilities:


ADAS Software Integration, Commissioning & Validation

  • Perform ADAS software bring-up and system commissioning on prototype and test vehicles
  • Execute vehicle software updates and maintain correct software configurations
  • Support integration and validation of ADAS software in test vehicles
  • Execute standardized test and validation procedures
  • Perform ECU flashing, basic sensor calibration, and diagnostic readouts

Troubleshooting & System Support

  • Conduct light troubleshooting at system and software level
  • Perform basic system health diagnostics and review logs and network traces
  • Support issue resolution efforts to return vehicles to operational status

Tooling, Coordination & Documentation

  • Set up, maintain, and operate vehicle diagnostic and measurement equipment
  • Document activities, procedures, and daily progress reports
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external partners
  • Track work items and issues using ticket-based systems such as JIRA

Field Support

  • Travel domestically to ADAS hubs and vehicle test locations (up to ~30%)
  • Test drive prototype and pre-series cars for validation purposes
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in automotive software, ADAS, or embedded systems
  • Understanding of ADAS features and sensors (camera, radar, LiDAR, ultrasonic)
  • Hands-on experience with ECU flashing and software update processes
  • Knowledge of automotive networks (CAN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet)
  • Experience working with prototype or test vehicles
  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostic and debugging tools (e.g., CANoe, DTS Monaco, Wireshark)
  • Ability to analyze basic diagnostic logs and communication traces
  • Strong documentation skills and structured working style
  • Valid US driver’s license and willingness to travel
  • Support on the weekends as needed, depending

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ADAS testing, validation, or integration activities
  • Familiarity with OEM or Tier 1 automotive development environments
  • Experience with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)
  • Basic understanding of vehicle E/E architectures
  • German OEM specific experience or training would be beneficial
