Required

  • Education and experience required:
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • 2+ years’ related experience in support of ADA accommodations in a Human Resources team environment.
  • Education and experience preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Healthcare Management.
    • Experience in a large employer setting with multiple leave of absence programs and policies.
  • Licensure, certification or registration preferred:
    • Applicable Industry certification, such as CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or PHR/SHRM-CP (Professional in Human Resources) Certification.
  • Knowledge And Skills Required:
    • Knowledge of employee benefits administration, including applicable state and federal regulations surrounding ADAAA, USERRA, HIPAA, ERISA, OSHA, FMLA, IRS and DOL regulations.
    • Ability to research and analyze data and make sound decisions.
    • Skilled in understanding and applying applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to leave of absence administration.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
    • Skilled in providing quality customer service, including the ability to listen and understand information being presented, as well as the ability to deescalate issues and resolve complaints with “win-win” solutions whenever possible.
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with a diverse group of people to meet goals and objectives.
    • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, delegate tasks, and oversee the successful completion of multiple projects.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Knowledge And Skills Preferred:
    • Human Capital Management (HCM) experience, specifically PeopleSoft, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.

Responsibilities:

  • ADA Accommodations Specialist establishes and develops trusted relationships with facility leadership, HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services functional teams and the legal department to effectively manage the day-to-day administration of disability-related accommodation inquiries and escalations.
  • ADA Accommodations Specialist serves as the subject matter expert responsible for all accommodation inquiries, to include the collection and review of applicable clinical documentation and conducting interactive discussions with key stakeholders to make appropriate recommendations on reasonable accommodation solutions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and with respect to employment laws related to ADA and appropriately apply information to each claim; proactively research information to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation, and minimize exposure to the organization.
  • Document all ADA cases as appropriate for the situation in accordance with legal compliance, company policy and internal standard operating procedures.
  • Review eligibility and availability of federal, state and company leave time for each team member requesting leave covered under the ADA, generating appropriate communications to comply with leave of absence policies and ADA regulations.
  • Manage the interactive process between the team member, facility leaders and attending physician via review of appropriate clinical documentation and accommodation discussions.
  • Negotiate accommodations as recommended by providers; renegotiate reasonable alternative accommodations and deny accommodations when appropriate.
  • Creates legally sound solutions to complex cases and maximizes opportunities for success of team member and the organization.
  • Liaise with Risk Management, as needed, where worker’s compensation claims intersect with ADA.
  • Liaise with the leave admin vendor, Employee Relations teams, and Talent Acquisition team in support of unauthorized absences or accommodation denials.
  • Maintain appropriate working relationships with vendor account managers, corporate and local HR leaders, internal Shared Services cross teams and HRIS teams.
  • Participate in new system design and implementation, as needed.
  • Assist the department manager in meeting service level agreements and team metrics, and achieving desired levels of performance, quality, and efficiency.
  • Complete required activities to support the accurate set-up of ADA related data for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, maintaining employee privacy, including confidentiality and protection of sensitive information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local ADA & leave related laws and regulations.
  • Maintain updated standard operating procedures for the position.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, honoring work schedules, meeting deadlines, and coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner.
