Actors Models information

What are actors and models?

Actors are professionals who portray characters in theater, television, film, or other performing arts media. They use their voice, body language, and emotional expression to bring scripts and stories to life. Models, on the other hand, showcase fashion, products, or concepts for advertising, magazines, runways, or commercial purposes. Both careers require versatility, dedication, and the ability to take direction and collaborate with photographers, directors, and other creative professionals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an actor or model, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Actor or Model, you need strong performance skills, physical presence, and often formal training or experience in acting or modeling techniques. Familiarity with industry tools such as casting platforms, audition software, and modeling portfolios is common, and certifications from recognized acting schools or modeling agencies can be advantageous. Exceptional confidence, adaptability, and the ability to take direction make individuals stand out in these roles. These skills are crucial for effectively portraying characters, representing brands, and succeeding in highly competitive entertainment and fashion industries.

How do actors and models typically balance multiple auditions and projects while maintaining strong performances?

Actors and models often juggle several auditions, callbacks, and projects at once, which requires excellent time management and organizational skills. They commonly use digital calendars and set routines to prepare for each opportunity, ensuring they are well-rested and focused for every performance or shoot. Maintaining flexibility and adaptability is crucial, as schedules can change quickly based on casting decisions or client needs. Collaboration with agents, managers, and other team members also helps streamline scheduling and communication, allowing actors and models to deliver their best work consistently.

Actors models primarily focus on acting and performing in visual media like film and TV, requiring acting skills and portfolios. Fashion models specialize in runway and photoshoots for fashion brands, emphasizing physical measurements and modeling portfolios. While both roles involve modeling, their work environments and skill sets differ significantly, catering to distinct industry needs.

Can you be an actor and a model?

Yes, actors and models often pursue both careers simultaneously, as the skills and industry connections can overlap. Many professionals work as both to diversify their opportunities and income, often requiring versatility, good networking, and a strong portfolio or reel. Balancing both roles may involve managing different schedules and skill sets, such as acting techniques and modeling poses or runway skills.

Do beginner actors models get paid?

Beginner actors and models can get paid, but their earnings often depend on the type of work, industry standards, and experience level. Many entry-level roles may be unpaid or offer lower compensation, especially in unpaid internships or student projects, while paid opportunities typically require a portfolio, headshots, or agency representation.

How to become an actor and model?

To become an actor and model, individuals typically start by gaining relevant training through acting classes or modeling workshops, building a professional portfolio, and gaining experience through auditions or local opportunities. Developing strong communication skills, maintaining a professional appearance, and understanding industry standards are also important for success in both fields.

Job description

ViiV Healthcare is a global specialty HIV company, the only one that is 100% focused on researching and delivering new medicines for people living with, and at risk of, HIV. ViiV is highly mission-driven in our unrelenting commitment to being a trusted partner for all people living with and affected by HIV. Our aim is to think, act, and connect differently through a focus on education and treatment for HIV. We go to extraordinary lengths to deliver the sorts of breakthroughs, both in treatments, care solutions and communities, that really count and take a holistic approach to HIV through developing and supporting sustainable community programs and improving access to care. We are fully committed to push through every challenge until HIV/AIDS is eradicated. ViiV has played a significant part in delivering breakthroughs that have turned HIV into a manageable health condition. We offer the largest portfolio of HIV medicines available anywhere, and we continue our work to cater for the widest possible range of needs in response to the HIV epidemic.

We are aware of how much is at stake for those affected by HIV and we show up 100% committed to the patients every day. Our work culture is fast-paced, diverse, inclusive, competitive, and caring. But ViiV isn't just somewhere to work - it's a place to belong, an invitation to bring your very best, and a team full of impact-driven team members who are hungry to make a difference.

While we have been improving lives of HIV patients for 30 years, this is an especially exciting time to be at ViiV, as we evaluate novel approaches to treatment and prevention that could further reduce the impact of HIV on individuals and communities.

This Scientific Leader, Nonclinical Drug Discovery Modeling contributes to Model-Informed Drug Discovery (MIDD) across ViiV Discovery by developing and applying fit-for-purpose modeling and simulation approaches that enable rapid, data-driven decision-making for HIV drug discovery programs. This discovery-focused individual contributor leverages mechanistic and translational modeling approaches (e.g., PBPK, IVIVE, PK/PD) to integrate experimental data and generate predictive insights that support compound progression from target validation through candidate selection across diverse modalities, including small molecules, biologics, ADCs, LNPs, and PROTACs. Working within established modeling frameworks and in close partnership with DMPK, Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, and Clinical Pharmacology, the role translates ADME, pharrnacokinetic, and pharmacological data into early dose predictions across multiple formulations and routes of administration, helping project teams rapidly

identify and advance the highest-quality candidates for clinical development.

This role will be based out of Branford, CT & is eligible for a domestic relocation package.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Apply fit-for-purpose modeling and simulation approaches to support decision-making across HIV discovery programs.
  • Develop and execute mechanistic and translational models (e.g., PBPK, IVIVE, PK/PD) to support dose prediction, compound optimization, and candidate selection.
  • Integrate experimental data into predictive workflows and translate ADME, PK, PD, and translational data into actionable project insights.
  • Apply modeling expertise across diverse modalities, formulations, and routes of administration, including long-acting therapies.
  • Guide program teams toward the identification and advancement of high-quality clinical candidates.
  • Contribute to modeling workflows, computational tools, and reproducible coding practices.
Basic Qualification

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • MS Degree & 7 plus years of experience or PhD & 4 plus years of experience (postgraduation) supporting drug discovery programs
  • Experience with modeling platforms (e.g., SimCYP, GastroPlus, WinNonlin, etc.) and basic scripting experience (e.g., R MATLAB, Python) development
  • Ability to apply mechanistic modeling approaches to support discovery programs and to progress rapid decisions
  • Experience with integrating experimental datasets into modeling workflows
  • Familiarity with reproducible coding practices and version control
  • Experience in PK/PD, PBPK, or IVIVE modeling approaches
  • Ability to interpret results and communicate to cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualification

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • PhD & 6 plus years of drug discovery experience
  • Experience working across teams, including partnering with internal and external experts
