What is an activity coordinator?

Activity coordinators are professionals who plan, organize, and oversee recreational or therapeutic activities for groups such as seniors, children, or patients in healthcare settings. Their goal is to enhance participants’ well-being, encourage socialization, and provide enjoyable experiences. Typical duties include creating activity schedules, leading events, and working closely with other staff to ensure activities are safe and appropriate. Activity coordinators may work in settings like nursing homes, community centers, camps, or schools.

What are some typical challenges faced by activity coordinators in planning events for diverse groups?

Activity Coordinators often manage events for participants with varying interests, abilities, and backgrounds. Balancing individual preferences with group objectives can be challenging, especially in settings like senior living, recreation centers, or youth programs. Are you a natural entertainer with a heart for seniors? We are seeking a creative, energetic, and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our life enrichment team. In this role, you won't just be "planning events"-you'll be creating moments of joy, maintaining the dignity of our residents, and ensuring that our facility feels like a vibrant community.

As an Activities Assistant you will:

What We're Looking For

  • Communication: Ability to speak clearly and engage with residents, families, and staff professionally.
  • Reliability: Long-term care requires consistency; our residents thrive on seeing familiar faces.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a nursing home, assisted living, or memory care setting is a major plus, but we are willing to train the right personality!

Qualifications

  • CNA certification is a plus but not required.
  • Valid Maine Driver's License; with clean driving record

  • 401(K) with employer contribution
  • Full-time employees (30+ hours per week) have access to benefits; medical, dental, vision & disability
  • Paid Time Off available for all employees
  • Employer paid life insurance
  • Flexible savings account, including medical & dependent care
  • Employee assistance program
