Job Description

The Inn is excited to announce a job opening for a Special Needs Worker. This is a full-time position located onsite, as it is not a remote job. We are dedicated to providing exceptional support and care to individuals with special needs, helping them to lead fulfilling and autonomous lives. As a Special Needs Worker at The Inn, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the daily lives of our residents, enabling them to achieve greater independence, dignity, and social inclusion.

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dependable Special Needs Support Worker to provide high-quality, individualized care and assistance to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities. This position focuses on supporting clients in their everyday lives—both at home and in the community—by helping them achieve greater independence, dignity, and social inclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and prepare meals.
  • Provide medication reminders and support with other health-related needs.
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, community events, recreational activities, educational programs, and social outings.
  • Support clients in staying actively involved and engaged in their communities.
  • Teach and reinforce life skills such as cooking, budgeting, time management, and appropriate social behaviors.
  • Build trusting relationships with clients and their families.
  • Work effectively as part of a care team, follow individualized care and behavior support plans.
  • Respond appropriately to a variety of emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Handle challenging behaviors or crisis situations in a calm, professional manner.
  • Work independently and under supervision in a reliable and organized manner.
  • Assist with client mobility and transportation needs, requiring a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, emotional resilience, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective, compassionate communication with clients and their families.
  • Experience in caregiving, direct support, or a special education setting is highly valued.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and transferring clients as needed.
  • Training in CPR and First Aid is advantageous but not mandatory, as training can be provided.
  • A genuine interest in working with individuals with special needs, promoting inclusion and human dignity.
  • Flexible availability, including the ability to work full-time, part-time, and weekend shifts as needed to meet client needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in fields related to special needs care is a plus.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening where applicable.
  • Previous participation in related workshops or certification programs preferred.
