Description:

The primary purpose of The Activity Director supports the efforts of the department in assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing of activity/recreational services to address the individualized needs and interests of the overall patient population within the center.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote patient opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
  • Develop/Coordinate activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and patients.
  • Complete monthly calendar of available activity/recreational programs and post in the facility.
  • Encourage patient participation in group and individual activities.
  • Ensure regulatory requirement compliance with department documentation.
  • Ensure that needed activity supplies are on hand to conduct scheduled activities.
  • Adhere to the budget guidelines for the department.
  • Maintain appropriate records pertaining to the department budget; monitor and control cost expenditures.
  • Organize and supervise department including selection, orientation, monitoring, scheduling and training of Activity aide employees.
  • Organize and supervise facility volunteer program including recruiting, selection, orientation, monitoring, scheduling and training volunteers.
  • Organize Resident Council Meetings.
  • Serve as a resource person for new residents. Assure that all necessary documents are completed.


Requirements:

  •        Degree in recreational therapy and/or Activity Director Certification (required)
  •        At least three years experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration. 
  •        Excellent verbal, organizational and communication skills
  •        Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  •        Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive/confidential information Strong computer skills
  •        Demonstrated critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and time management skills.
