Job Assignment
The Activity Assistant I positionat Rosewood Court Residential Care is responsible for providing activitiesappropriate to the varying levels of Dementia, such as setting up entertainmentfor the residents, decorating, gardening, cooking, sewing, assisting withoutings and other duties as listed below.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide activities throughout the dayappropriate to the varying levels of Dementia (High functioning, moderatefunctioning and low functioning) that corresponds with the resident'spreferences.
• Set up dining room for evening meal.
• Directing our residents to the dining room atmealtime and assist with feeding.
• Visit residents who do not like to be out oftheir rooms and offer appropriate activities.
• Provide snacks three times daily to theresidents who would like them.
• Take residents for walks outside the facility(weather permitting).
• Create and display activities calendar for eachmonth. (Before the new month starts).
• Assist with outside entertainment.
• Assist with outings outside the facility.
• Provide activities for volunteers to do with theresidents.
• Help decorate the facility with holidaydecorations.
• Assist with watering and weeding flowers/gardenin the courtyard.
• Chart resident's activities and snacks theyparticipated in.
• Inform residents of their rights (see attached ResidentRights).
• Assist in Monthly Resident Council meetings.(take notes for records)
• Oversee the washing/drying of clothingprotectors after each meal.
• Redirect residents with behaviors from the NursesStation area.
• Assist the Activity Director with activitiesassessments and care plans.
• Manage activities in absence of the ActivityDirector.
• Assist with scheduling of activities staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
Expectations
The Activities AssistantI will always treat the residents of Rosewood Court Resident Care Facility withrespect and dignity and be an advocate for the resident's needs. In representingRosewood Court Resident Care Facility's, the Activity Assistant I must exhibita professional, caring attitude at all times. In keeping with Rosewood CourtResident Care Facility's philosophy of care, the Residents' needs are ofprimary concern. All issues related to the Residents and Staff of RosewoodCourt Resident Care Facility are to be treated confidentially.
Requirements
Education: Have completed a minimum of six (6) hours of job-relatedpre-service orientation. Must have afirst aid card. CPR is recommended but not required. You must complete twelve(12) hours of in-service training annually.
Experience: 1 year experience working with Dementia,typing and other office skills recommended.
Required: Must have the ability to read, write andunderstand English. Highly motivated toward providing excellence in care toseniors. Belief in a positive, active, and professional attitude incommunicating with residents, staff members, consultants, physicians, casemanagers and family members. Team oriented. Daily Tasks will include standing,walking, stooping, bending, stretching and lifting and moving/assistingresidents and equipment as necessary. Must be in good health and be able tocarry out all necessary functions of the position.
