Job description

Tool Crib Attendants are responsible for identifying the necessary tooling for a production job and assembling those for issue to the shop floor. Attendants also grinds/sharpens tooling and stocks materials incoming to the tool crib.
Essential Functions
To perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Analyze job orders, engineering drawings, and other technical specifications to accurately identify tooling requirements
  • Collects and assembles all necessary tools, fixtures, etc. needed to complete a job in production
  • Sharpens tooling using grinders and other powered hand tools
  • Stocks and organizes materials and fixtures within the designated storage area
  • May issue purchase order requests for low-stock or unavailable items
  • Enters inventory use into ERP for accurate tooling inventory records
  • Communicates effectively (English) with coworkers in manufacturing, quality, procurement, and other functional areas

Required Education and Work Experience
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Experience in CNC machining to understand machining concepts and tool feeds and speeds is preferred

Other Required Skills and Abilities
  • Experience reading and accurately interpreting shop blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications is required
  • Experience using powered electric and/or pneumatic hand tools including grinders or sanders is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment
To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, stand for long periods to perform job duties
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material-handling equipment
  • Occasionally reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform duties
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Frequently uses hand or fingers to manually inspect parts and operate tools and/or material handling controls
  • Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
  • Excessive noise (hearing protection required)
  • Dust, smoke, mist, fumes/vapors (regularly)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (regularly)

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear is required
