Job Title: Accounting Manager Department: Finance Reports To: Senior Director of Business Operations and Administration Status: Exempt
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
  • Manage accounting coordinator and provide oversight over their daily job duties.
    • Develop and increase finance and accounting knowledge of accounting coordinator
    • Set clear, manageable expectations and provide feedback to support employee growth.
    • Help foster and maintain a collaborative team culture that promotes the Nashville Predators ONE GOAL philosophy.
  • Review for accuracy all accounts payable information pertaining to the Smashville Ice Rinks.
  • Review invoices and expense reports for proper documentation, coding accuracy and proper approvals.
  • Review invoice and expense report entries entered into Intacct (accounting software), Papersave (approval software) and spreadsheets;
  • Review and manage cash outflows in banking portal to records in accounting software
  • Review and approve entries in company/subsidiary(ies) Purchase Order system.
  • Prepare for review Sales and Use Tax return for Mid Ice LLC. Work with Controller to complete additional sales and use tax returns.
  • Review customer invoices for accuracy that are prepared by other members of the business operations staff. Send invoices to contract customers across various properties.
  • Serve as elevated point of contact for customer invoicing questions.
  • Review and reconcile bank deposits. Own reconciliation of all related cash accounts.
  • Record interdepartmental transactions and perform reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts for related entities on a monthly/quarterly basis. Bring important or unidentified variances to upper management for review if resolution cannot be found with existing staff.
  • Monitor and make recommendations to improve accounting and business processes.
  • Assist in preparing reports required by the National Hockey League for Industry Growth Fund initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing budget(s) alongside Senior Director and other departments for approval by upper management.
  • Assist in financial analysis metrics to drive business and operational efficiency in a tight margin business.
  • Assist in compiling data for quarterly projections.
  • Serve as point of contact for external auditors for assigned accounts. Be able to provide support for their requests.
  • Provide continuous, superior customer service and exceed internal and external customer expectations with service, communication, and urgency. Likewise, provide creative suggestions and proactive solutions to internal and external customer issues.
  • Communicate with supervisors and manage workload and anticipated timeline for completion of tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Director of Business Operations and Administration, or other management.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • Masters degree in accounting, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active CPA license is preferred.
  • Expertise in accrual accounting principles. Understanding of advanced accounting concepts.
  • Familiarity with state and local business taxes.
  • Detail oriented and team player.
  • Experience managing small team of staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word).
  • Knowledge of financial management and accounting software required; familiarity with Intacct accounting software a plus.
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to keep confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours a must; overtime may be required.
  • Must be able to work at times with limited guidance.
  • As a condition of employment, qualified applicant will be subject to a background check, including criminal history, driving history, previous employment verification and character references.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by the Organization's insurance carrier.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Must have high finger dexterity while performing data entry 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position to perform the work.
  • Walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers and office supplies, computer work, and answering phones will be required.
  • Accessing, typing, and processing records via digital systems.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and move boxes of office equipment, accounting files, etc. weighing up to 20 lbs.

Equipment Used:
  • General Office Equipment (e.g. PC, copier, scanner, calculator, time clock).
