Job description

Sunrise Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Specialist. This person will play a critical role in the growth of the company by ensuring accuracy and timeliness with expense, billing, and general accounting processes.


The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, 5+ years of corporate accounting experience, and a strong work ethic and proven record of success.


This position works out of Sunrise Technologies’ headquarters in Winston Salem, NC on a hybrid schedule (remote Mondays & Fridays).


What you'll do:

  • Manage the bi-weekly customer billing cycle, ensuring timely and accurate invoices.
  • Process and code Credit Card bills for efficient expense management.
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) entry, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Maintain a virtual filing system for streamlined document organization.
  • Actively manage collections to ensure on-time customer payments.
  • Analyze subcontractor activity and prepare reports for cost control.
  • Perform monthly accruals and analysis for a clear understanding of financial obligations.
  • Review and reconcile the General Ledger (GL) for monthly and year-end closing.
  • Set up new customer accounts and projects efficiently and accurately.
  • New hire set up and associated administrative tasks including ordering corporate Visa cards.
  • Demonstrate initiative by taking on special projects and leading them across departments to drive team success.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.


What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (3.5+ GPA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible accounting roles. (Minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment.)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O), Dynamics GP, etc).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A go-getter attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
