Job description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Finance by overseeing the accounts payable and accounting functions of the Agency. This position will also be responsible for preparing financial reports, analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with policy and procedures, and supervising finance staff.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises assigned finance staff.
  • Responsible for the Accounts Payable department management including internal control review of vendor invoice entries in accordance with accounts payable procedures and ensures proper authorizations, purchase requisition matching and coding in accordance with agency policy and approval for payment.
  • Trains new managers in Accounts Payable processes.
  • Oversee, in conjunction with the Director of Finance, the financial review of various entities' financial records and reports.
  • Records journal entries as they pertain to areas of responsibility within the Agency.
  • Responsible for contract and grant accounting and reporting.
  • Reviews and approve housing entities' financial reports.
  • Assists with preparation of the annual budget.
  • Provides support to accounting staff related to expense reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper use of accounting software, creating efficiencies using technology.
  • Annual 1099 and 1096 Filing.
  • Assembles records for various audits and financial reviews.
  • Provides general accounting services in the absence of other business office staff.
