Accounting Contractor
Department: Business Operations
Employment Type: Contract / Temp
Location: HCM Remote
Reporting To: Manager, Finance & Administration
Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00 / hour
Description
Her Campus Media is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Finance team. This role will support and report directly to the Accounting Manager. The candidate will be responsible for contributing to all day-to-day finance operations and providing general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and budget administration. This role will ensure key accounts are reconciled in accordance with GAAP and transactions are processed and recorded in a timely manner. We are looking for a reliable, diligent, and detail-oriented candidate who is ready to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Operations & Reporting
    • Assist with month-end close processes and account reconciliations.
    • Prepare and record journal entries while maintaining the chart of accounts.
    • Analyze financial data to generate accurate balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
    • Work alongside the Accounting Manager to manage day-to-day finance tasks.
  2. Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
    • Enter accounts payable and log vendor bills.
    • Review all invoices for proper documentation and approval before issuing payment.
    • Manage vendor onboarding, collect and track W-9 forms, and handle payment inquiries.
  3. Compliance & Administration
    • Prepare and process employee expense reports.
    • Help implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls in compliance with GAAP.
    • Maintain prompt, effective communication with employees, clients, and external vendors.
    • Contribute to special projects and additional assignments as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
