Job description

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Accounting Manager will be to support the cattle procurement team and work with the production departments to ensure accurate data is collected. They will oversee 1 supervisor and 3 accounting clerks and be responsible for training and leadership activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work daily with cattle procurement team.

  • Analyze and correct cattle data.

  • Prepare weekly inventory usage reports.

  • Prepare daily reports as needed.

  • Daily Cattle Inventory Reconciliation.

  • Audit cattle billing and lot assignments

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive business information.

  • Month-End Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • In depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high quality work; sense of urgency and willingness to be hands on with tasks.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and solid understanding of technology to be more efficient.

  • Detail-oriented with strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Travel to Hanford for training when necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

  • 2+ years or more of supervisory experience required.

  • 1+ years or more of cost accounting preferred.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Familiarity with cattle or meat industry operations is a plus.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen

  • Must be able to pass background check

Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Able to work in processing plant environment.

  • Must be able to work in Hot, Humid and cold outside work environment - when going to cattle office area

  • Working from platforms off the floor, walking around live cattle when going to cattle office

  • Must be able to be okay with cattle smells and odors.
