Job Vision

The Accountant performs day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This role prepares and reviews monthly journal entries, assists with monthly financial reporting, participates in the annual audit, and contributes to the budgeting process. As part of Milestone Church, this position plays a key role in stewarding financial resources with integrity and excellence to support the mission of the church.


Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with nonprofit and church-specific accounting standards.


  • Oversee accounting for tithes, offerings, and donor-restricted funds, ensuring proper classification and compliance.


  • Ensure the monthly close process stays on time and on track, preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and completeness.


  • Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements to strengthen financial processes.


  • Maintain and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.


  • Partner with ministry leaders on budget tracking and stewardship.


  • Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules, reports, and responding to auditor inquiries.


  • Maintain and update financial data within accounting systems, assist with system improvements and special projects, and provide timely financial reports and insights to ministry leaders and stakeholders.
