Job description

Amazon is a pioneering and dynamic company that thrives on unique and peculiar ways. We take pride in our single-minded obsession over customer satisfaction and our ability to maintain a curious culture no matter how large the company grows. We endeavor to build our legacy as Earth's most customer-centric company and to continue to cultivate and nourish our innovative environment through our mission to hire the best.

If you are a financial accounting professional who consistently exceeds expectations, who dares to make bold decisions, and whose ears perk up at the prospect of a challenge, then Amazon is a place where your career can flourish.
When working at Amazon, your ability to make a difference and take ownership of your career begins on day one. You can expect a collaborative, team-driven environment that encourages employees to learn, be curious, and have a bias for action. Part of this propensity for continuous learning shows itself in Amazon's strong encouragement of movement and growth within the Accounting department and within the company as a whole

We aim to hire and develop those who will raise the bar over the course of their career at Amazon (and not just in their first position).
Amazon's accounting group offers opportunities at the Senior Accountant level in Legal Entity & Intercompany, Accounting Policy & Reporting, Operations and Capital, Transportation, Payments & Merchant Services, Retail Operations, Digital, and AWS Accounting.
The Corporate Accountant supports Amazon's global accounting operations through financial reporting, technical accounting research, and cross-functional collaboration. This role may support corporate reporting functions such as external reporting, corporate functional accounting, intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, equity accounting, treasury/funding, or entity restructuring - partnering with business teams across AWS, Digital, Stores, Payments, Advertising, and International operations.
This role requires risk assessment, control considerations, and process improvement within a complex, high-growth environment. The successful candidate will operate independently in a fast-paced environment while partnering effectively across teams including Tax, Legal, Treasury, Finance, and Statutory Accounting.
Key job responsibilities
Perform and/or manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
Support the preparation, review, and filing of SEC reports (10-Q, 8-K, 10-K) and other external filings as applicable
End-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners; Lead delivery of accounting tasks and projects
Execute judgments to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Technology, and Statutory Accounting teams to understand business initiatives and assess accounting implications
Assess the effectiveness of controls in your area and participate in the design of new controls for emerging and growing business activities
Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities; drive impactful global projects that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
Proactively identify, research, and document technical accounting positions and memorandums on significant transactions
Assess risks, evaluate internal control considerations, and escalate issues to leadership with appropriate context and recommendations
Analyze complex processes and systems data to identify root causes and surface insights
About the team
The Global Transfer Pricing Close and Reporting team is responsible for the worldwide accounting of Amazon's intercompany transfer pricing transactions - ensuring charges are accurate, compliant with the arm's length principle, and booked on time across Amazon's global entity structure.
We are an agile, high-ownership team that moves fast and takes pride in getting the details right

We partner closely with tax and finance teams across the business. If you're looking for a place to build deep technical expertise while working on problems that matter at a global scale, this is it.
