Job description

Accounting Internship Summary:

CSX is a Fortune 500 company seeking future business leaders who want real-world accounting experience. Interns within the Accounting Department will be placed onto either the Accounting & Reporting, Payroll, or Billing teams for a 10-week immersion into CSX methods and culture. Individuals will complete challenging assignments, gaining hands-on experience and connecting with industry professionals. The accounting internship provides an opportunity for candidates to experience what a role in accounting looks like, while allowing CSX to actively recruit tomorrow's best talent.

What You'll Experience

10-Week Summer Internship Program: May 24, 2027 - July 30, 2027

Location: CSX Headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida (on-site)

Housing Support: Eligible interns may receive complimentary housing for the duration of the program. Travel, transportation, and other personal expenses are not provided.

Competitive Compensation: Earn competitive hourly pay while gaining valuable professional experience.

Professional Development Opportunities: Enhance your skills through executive networking events, lunch & learn sessions, local site visits, community service activities, cross-functional exposure, and networking opportunities designed to help you build meaningful connections across CSX.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

Participate in and learn core areas of the accounting organization

Contribute to special projects that support field employees, technology initiatives, customer relationships, financial and liquidity objectives, as well as reporting and compliance

Engage in process improvement projects

Conduct accounting research and analysis

Communicate the results of research and analyses to department leaders

Complete cross-functional projects and miscellaneous activities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications:

Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in: Accounting, Finance, Business or a related major field of study from an accredited institution

Be available to work up to 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program

Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Must be 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale)

Previous internship, co-op, part-time, or relevant work experience

Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, volunteer activities, or campus involvement

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong academic performance and demonstrated interest in accounting or finance

Proven leadership ability and initiative

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to develop and deliver presentations

Job Requirements:

Work inside an office environment

Communicate effectively with colleagues

Work within established deadlines

Successfully complete a background check and drug test
