The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting duties, such as: journal entries, bank reconciliations, sales and use tax calculations, and balance sheet reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compile and analyze information gathered and prepare for general ledger entry, as assigned

  • Reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts; create summary reports as needed; researching and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner

  • Reconcile Bank Accounts, both domestic and foreign, researching and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner

  • Prepare Sales & Use Tax calculations and accruals for various states by reviewing all required vendor invoices; in a complete, timely and accurate manner

  • Assist Fixed Asset Accountant in updating records and reconciliations relating to fixed asset activities

  • Complete Sub-Tenant monthly billing and maintain spreadsheet

  • Various journal entries and reconciliations for foreign offices, as assigned

  • Perform research and prepare schedules relating to annual audits, as assigned

  • Perform other duties as necessary

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or related experience

  • 2+ years accounting experience in a general ledger systems environment, preferably with a large legal or professional services environment

  • Experience with Aderant Expert and/or Sage FAS a plus

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong analytical skills and math skills

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills

  • Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently, with individuals at all levels of the organization and work well as part of a team

  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial information and reports

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet regular deadlines

  • Must have strong experience and skills with Microsoft Excel and Word

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

The expected salary range for this position is $60k-$65k. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skill set, and geographic location.
