Job description

Primary Purpose:

Jump start a career in the field of banking!

Internships at Dogwood State Bank, a Division of TowneBank, offer hands-on experience and an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of banking. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced team members who can offer insights to help you better understand the financial services industry.

This internship is expected to continue through October 30, 2026. Depending on business needs and the intern's performance, there may be an opportunity to transition into a part-time position through the end of the calendar year.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, understand their needs, and provide appropriate solutions. Assist customers with account inquiries, deposits, withdrawals, and other general banking transactions. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by promptly resolving any issues or concerns.
  • Cash Handling: Accurately count, receive, and disburse cash, checks, and other financial instruments. Ensure cash drawer balances at the beginning and end of each shift, following the bank’s cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Transaction Processing: Perform various banking transactions, such as deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, money orders, and traveler’s checks. Ensure all transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Travel to and provide support at surrounding branch locations as needed to meet operational and business needs.
  • Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.

Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Ability to navigate and learn computer systems and software
  • Solid reasoning, analytical, technical, mathematical and language abilities

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Be seeking a degree at an accredited college/university with a major in accounting, banking, business administration, commercial or banking law, economics, finance, marketing, or other fields related to the position.
  • Have at least a cumulative (overall) 3.0 GPA
  • Have completed two full academic years toward the degree

Physical Requirements:
