Job description

Position Description
Assigns and supervises the work of custodians and performs custodial duties involving the cleaning and care of buildings. Supervises the work of five or more custodians.
Major/Essential Functions
  • Cleaning is done according to the standards set by the department. Proper methods and procedures should be followed at all times in all areas with consistent accuracy. Reports needed repairs and property damage. Leaves work areas clean and orderly, including all work-related equipment, custodial closets and break room areas.
  • Promotes and practices safety in the workplaces. Maintains an accident-free operation. Use and cares for equipment in a safe and proper manner. Chemicals are used in a safe and proper manner to avoid waste or accidents.
  • Performs work including emergency cleanup of rooms, summer conferences and cleanup, specialty floor or carpet cleaning, winter break cleaning, weekend work schedule and all related work as required. Paying attention to detail in all areas.
  • Visual and written inspections are completed as requested or required. Quality control sheets and TMA work orders are completed correctly and submitted in a timely manner. Orders supplies as needed to maintain accurate inventory. Maintains records, completes necessary paperwork required in reporting accidents, attendance, scheduled and unscheduled leave.
  • Assigns, supervises, and trains/coaches all staff in performing their duties with consistent accuracy.
  • Assumes supervisor duties in the absence of the Supervisor.
