The Beats Accessories Product Design team is seeking a product design engineer to work on the nextโ€‘generation of products. We work in a highlyโ€‘collaborative, fastโ€‘paced environment with teams across Apple including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Reliability, Software, and Marketing to define product objectives, design solutions, and validate the performance of those designs through mass production, all while keeping customer experience at the forefront. Our contributions have broad impacts โ€“ from the overall system size and shape down to the smallest details.

Description

As a member of our Beats Accessories Product Design team, you would conceive, design, test, solve problems, and bring into production a diverse array of accessory products. We work closely with various multiโ€‘functional teams including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Reliability, Software, and Marketing. Expertly integrating advanced components into brand new products means every single day is different here! This role may require international travel (~10%).

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience in product design, or equivalent
  • BS Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability in plastic and metal part design
  • 3โ€‘D CAD skills
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, and geometric tolerancing
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements
  • Some experience with basic finite element analysis and general mechanical engineering analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to multiโ€‘disciplinary teams
  • Collaborative, detailโ€‘oriented, and driven to deliver with a high standard of quality
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment
  • Ability to travel internationally (10%+)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers
  • Consumer electronics design experience
  • Fluent in Siemens NX
  • Handsโ€‘on prototyping experience (3D printing, CNC mills, lathes, or other fabrication methods)
  • Integration of wireless antenna (GSM, GPS, Wifi) into mechanical enclosures
  • Experience with component modules (Audio drivers, batteries, power supplies, camera modules, displays, inductive charging etc.)
  • MS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
